The process

Importing to Sweden, step by step

01

Choose and confirm

Pick a car from our inventory. The price shown is the full amount payable to us — the vehicle, shipping to Gothenburg, and all Korean-side costs.

02

Inspection and purchase

Our team in Seoul inspects the car in person and sends you a photographic report. We buy only once you approve.

03

Shipping

The car sails from Korea to Gothenburg, insured for its full value. Crossing time is around four weeks.

04

Customs and VAT

We clear the vehicle on arrival. You pay 25% Sweden VAT — there is no customs duty on Korean-built cars.

05

Registration and delivery

Vehicles need a registrationsbesiktning at Bilprovningen. Cold-climate specification is common on Korean cars, which helps here. We deliver to your address and supply every document Transportstyrelsen requires.

Worth knowing

No import duty into Sweden

Korean-built cars enter the EU free of customs duty under the EU–Korea Free Trade Agreement. On a €25,000 car that is roughly €2,500 you do not pay. Your 25% VAT and registration are settled with the Swedish authorities as normal.

Questions

Importing to Sweden

Do I pay customs duty importing a Korean car to Sweden?

No. Under the EU–South Korea Free Trade Agreement, cars manufactured in South Korea enter the EU at 0% customs duty. In Sweden you pay 25% VAT and your registration costs — nothing further to customs. We supply the proof of Korean origin the exemption requires.

How long does delivery to Sweden take?

Typically 35–45 days from purchase to your address. The vehicle sails to Gothenburg, clears customs there, and is transported inland to you.

How do I register the car in Sweden?

Registration goes through Transportstyrelsen. Vehicles need a registrationsbesiktning at Bilprovningen. Cold-climate specification is common on Korean cars, which helps here. We provide the full document file — Korean registration certificate, export certificate, bill of lading, invoice and proof of origin — which is what the authority will ask for.

Which Korean models sell best in Sweden?

Kia, Hyundai, Genesis are the makes our Swedish customers ask for most. Korean domestic specification is usually higher than the equivalent European trim, which is much of the appeal.
